Transitions

Connecting sentences within a composition so that they flow together in a smooth, orderly
manner is an important component of all types of written work, since effective use of transitional
devices provides a way for an author to "build a case," point by point, in order to involve readers
in his/her thoughts and to connect those thoughts in a "logical chain."

Links to three types of transitional devices are given below. If you use these connecting words
and phrases appropriately, you'll be sure to improve your writing.
