Webheads in Action, a world-wide cross-cultural online community of ESL/EFL educators and other professionals involved in computer-mediated communication, invites participation in Bridges Across Cyberspace, a unique conference to be held entirely online November 18–20, 2005. The conference is called a convergence because it is intended to be a fair or festival in which colleagues celebrate with us by presenting their work in a wide variety of formats. Participation is free and open to all who are interested. More information is available through the links in the left sidebar menu on this page.

Registration is at the conference moodle.

Proposals for presentations at Bridges Across Cyberspace will be accepted through September 15, 2005. To create a proposal, registration at the convergence proposal site is necessary, but once you have registered, you may revisit the site as often as you like until the deadline to edit your proposal or create new ones.

Proposals may be for synchronous or asynchronous events or combinations of the two. Synchronous events (including, but not limited to, individual presentations, panel / roundtable discussions, etc.) can be held in one of our sponsors' voice-enabled presentation portals, either as a webcast or through use of streaming media. Asynchronous events might include bulletin board discussions, online poster sessions, integration with content management systems, or other formats. Session topics can be pedagogical or technical, and can include examples of practical work with students, training sessions, reports of research or research in progress, demonstrations of new media, and descriptions or explorations of how interaction takes place over the Internet—e.g., how online communities form as a result of computer-mediated communication.

Presentation proposals may be made at http://users.prof2000.pt/wia/oc. More information on the proposal form is included in the left-hand sidebar menu.

The online journal Teaching English with Technology will support the enterprise by devoting a special issue to publishing a proceedings.
